Measuring for Roller Blinds Inside Window Recess
Use this method if you would like your new roller blind to be mounted within your window recess.
We recommend watching our how to measure video guide first.
Measure the width
Measure the width at the top of your window recess.
Use this measurement as your width.
Important Checks
Check your recess depth
Ensure you have at least 5cm clearance between the edge of any obstruction and the front of your window recess.
Width obstruction check
If you have any obstructions within your recess such as tiles, measure between these two points and use this as your width measurement. If the difference between this measurement and the top of your recess is less than 25mm you can use the measurement at the top of your recess.
Measure the drop
Measure the height of your window recess.
Use this as your drop measurement.
Final step
Now enter your width and drop measurements, then select Recess as your sizing option.

Measuring for Roller Blinds Exact Size
Use this method if you know exactly the width and the drop you require.
We recommend watching our how to measure video guide first.
Measure the width
Decide how much overlap you want your roller blind to have on each side of your window recess.
Measure this width.
Important Checks
Left and Right Overlap
We recommend your roller blind overlaps your window recess by at least 5cm on each side (10cm overall).
For Greater Light Elimination
The more your roller blind overlaps your window recess, the more light you eliminate.
Measure the drop
Measure the height from where you want the top of the headrail to start, and the bottom bar to finish. This is your drop measurement.
Important Checks
Top Overlap
We recommend your roller blind overlaps the top of your window recess by at least 7cm.
Bottom Overlap
The desired overlap at the bottom of your window recess is personal choice. Check for obstructions such as radiators. If your window sill protudes more than 5cm, you should stop your blind at this point.
Final step
Now enter your width and drop measurements, then select Exact as your sizing option.

Measuring for Roller Blinds
Use this measuring guide if you would like to split your window into multiple blinds. Great for large windows or windows with a very defined split.
Mark your split point
With a pencil, make a small mark where you'd like to split your roller blinds.
Helpful Hints
Recommended Split Point
If you have a vertical window mullian or door frame, we’d suggest using this as your split point. Alternatively use the centre of the window you’re covering.
Please Note:
There will be a small gap between your blinds to accommodate the central brackets.
Measure the width
Measure between the edge of your window recess and your split point mark.
Use this measurement as your width.
Important Note
Once installed you will have a minimum gap of 0.5cm between your blinds. The gap will be determined by how close you install the central brackets.
Helpful Hints
Outside Recess
If you're not installing your roller blind within the recess, measure from your split point to where you want your roller blind to finish.
Width obstruction check
If you have any obstructions within your recess such as tiles, measure between these two points and use this as your width measurement.
Measure the drop
Measure the height of your window recess in three places.
Use the smallest measurement as your drop for all the roller blinds.
Final step
Now enter your width and drop measurements for each blind. Order each blind with the ‘Recess’ sizing option.
